Comments:

Have traveled to 46 countries in Europe, Near and Far East.
Worked as a teacher-counselor with the Dept. of Defense Overseas Schools System from 1962 to 1998.Lived in Fontainebleau, France 5 years and was married there in 1963. Lived in Germany short time and then in Tokyo for 2 years. Daughter born there. We then came to England and wife, teacher also, and I taught at USAF Base near Oxford, 1969 to 1998.
While in England, attended Oxford University. Later received Doctorate
from U. of S. California.
We had a farmhouse in SW France for 35 years. Still spend our summers in France. Own house in Woodstock close to Blenheim Palace where Churchill was born. 13 August 2019 Sold French farmhouse years ago.

School Story:

I taught 9th grade Gen. Science. One day I saw a student stick a finger into an inkwell...yes...the desks were that old... and put it to his lips. I jokingly said, "Oh my God, you'll be dead in 5 minutes!, you better go see the nurse right away." So he jumped up, ran from the classroom headed for the nurse's office. Five minutes later he was back. He was all out of breath when he said, "Mr. McGurrin. you forgot to give me a hall pass."

I trust that he is still alive and and perhaps may be at the reunion.

13 August 2019 UPDATE: Its been quite a few years since last I communicated with the student body of 1962 APHS. Just to say that I visited Baseball coach George Snow last month in St. Augustine, FL. I was his assistant and if any of you remember, APHS won the Shore Baseball Championship and lost out in a close game another year. I don't recall the years but Vinnie Gorman would know as he played 2nd base. The APHS Faculty had a great basketball team and I was, ahem, one of the high scorers.George and I had a wonderful reunion probably our last one. I say that because I turned 90 in February but so far, so good. Have good memories and vibes of mt time at good old APHS. Regards to all who may remember me.

First let me extend my sincere condolences to the family of Sergio Rey a friend and colleague at Asbury Park High School.
I just returned from Pennsylvania where I was nominated and inducted into my college's (Keystone College) Athletic Hall of Fame in baseball & basketball. Some of you may remember me playing on the fine Asbury Park High School Faculty Team.
R. McGurrin, former Science Teacher and Asst. Baseball Coach of the Shore Championship Baseball Team. Best wishes to all.
